Dear resident,
The Town of Westover Hills City Council lifted the ban on water well drilling at its most recent council meeting. With the ban lifted, the Town Council wanted to inform the residents about the existence of regulations governing the drilling and installation of water wells that apply to any water well drilled or contemplated in Westover Hills. Drilling a well without the appropriate permits or in violation of those regulations could subject the landowner to fines and other penalties. A complete list of regulations can be obtained from the Northern Trinity Groundwater Conservation District’s website @ http://ntgcd.com.
In addition, the Town of Westover Hills purchases water from the City of Fort Worth and is required by contract to conform to Fort Worth’s rules and regulations. One important regulation with which Westover Hills contractually must prohibit cross connections with Fort Worth’s system. Water from a well may not enter, and plumbing from a well may not connect with plumbing that is directly connected to the community water system. You are required to maintain a separate irrigation system that does not physically connect, at any point, to the public water system that provides drinking water to your home.
The Town of Westover Hills is providing this information to keep the residents informed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Tim Chambers at 817-737-8442 or email at t.chambers@westoverhills.us.
Sincerely,
David F. Burgess
Chief of Police/Town Administrator
